We finished off the year with the essay results, figuring out and rewarding the Survivor, and general wrap up.

Thursday, June 15th

We wrote the last in class essay of the year today on Lord of the Flies.

You will get the results next class, and we shall determine the survivor of our fan fiction island.

Tuesday, June 13th

We finished off Lord of the Flies today with our discussion of chapters 11 and 12.


On Thursday, June 15th, you will write your last essay of the year on the novel. DO NOT GO ONLINE  or look at any PUBLISHED PAPERS on the novel.  I will know; and you will be sad.

Friday, June 9

We continued working through chapters 9-11 today in preparation for the in class essay on Lord of the Flies on Thursday, June 15th.

Wednesday, June 7th

We did passage analyses on various sections of chapter 9 today.  You are getting credit for your contributions.  We will finish off the last two passages on Friday before moving on to chapters 10, and possibly 11, so please read chapters 10-11 for next class.

The in class essay on Lord of the Flies will take place on Thursday, June 15th.

Monday, June 5th

We discussed most of chapter 8 today, focusing on how “mankind’s essential illness” is demonstrated and dealt with throughout the chapter. Part of the class was spent in the awards assembly.  We shall finish discussing chapter 8 and then go on to chapter 9 on Wednesday.

We discussed chapters 6-7 of Lord of the Flies focusing  on key passages and doing it “blind Jenga-style.”  If you were absent, you missed some important notes, so ask someone who was here to get a copy.
